From Gear to “Beacon”: Helmets Become Intelligent Rescue Terminals
Traditional RECCO reflectors are mostly integrated into clothing. Leveraging its deep understanding of user safety scenarios, SPIRIT SPORTS has broken through the barriers of technology integration, seamlessly embedding lightweight, passive RECCO reflectors into the structural layers of the helmet. This design achieves two core advantages:
Unbreakable Protection: In the impact of a violent avalanche, the user is easily separated from their snowboard, backpack, and other equipment, but the helmet remains the most critical protective barrier for the head and the least likely piece of equipment to separate from the body. Integrating the RECCO reflector ensures that this “rescue beacon” stays close to the user in the most critical moments, greatly increasing the probability of being found.
Optimal Signal Position: The head is the highest point of the human body. Placing the reflector in the helmet means that even in deep burial situations, it is likely to be located in the shallowest snow layer, allowing the rescue team’s RECCO detector to capture the signal faster and earlier, buying precious time for life-saving rescue.
Technological Empowerment, Surpassing Traditional Rescue Limitations
The RECCO® technology used in this integration is a harmonic radar-based detection system. It requires no batteries and is permanently effective. When professional rescuers use the RECCO detector for search and rescue, the specific radar signal emitted by the detector penetrates the snow layer, activating the reflector in the helmet and receiving its unique response signal, thereby accurately locating the buried person’s position.
